Title: He needs Him
Characters: EunHae
Genre: Fluff, Angst, Romance
Summary: Hyukjae realizes he needs Donghae more than anything.
Note: I know the title’s sucks and the summary’s even more sucks and I don’t know if the story line is sucks or not. Let’s just hope that you guys will like it. Well, it’s been so long since I last write so yeah, enjoy?

Hyukjae doesn’t know how they ended up being best friends, because he only remembers them hating each other back then.

Sometimes, he thinks if being too closed is wrong; because Donghae always cling to him, Donghae likes skinship too much that he doesn’t bother doing it in public. Much to his surprise, Hyukjae never hates them, the fact that he enjoys everything the other gives to him. He likes holding Donghae’s hands, the kisses on the cheeks they will share, the smile Donghae gives to him before disappearing into his mom’s car, leaving Hyukjae smiling like an idiot in the crowds.

As much as he tells himself to not care, and to only think about his and Donghae’s happiness, but when his friends told him that they both look like a couple; with Donghae behaving like a shy girlfriend and Hyukjae being the boyfriend, he starts to realize, maybe they should stop, because he thinks it’s just so wrong.

“Hey Donghae, I know how much you love skinship, how about not doing it in public?”

It takes long for the younger to reply, “You did not like them?”

He looks dejected, and Hyukjae hates it. “No, it’s not like I don’t like them, but you know, uh… what will the others think about us, um you know, we’re both guys. We-”

“Why do you care about what others think?!” The last thing Donghae said before leaving Hyukjae alone in his room.

--

Days passed and he tries to convince himself that everything’s going to be okay but he’s wrong.

He never sees Donghae during lunch break, he never sees Donghae when it’s time to go home, he never sees Donghae in his seats, and he realizes Donghae is never at school.

--

Hyukjae also realizes that it’s getting harder for him to sleep. He has been trying all poses he can do, but he can’t get himself to sleep. Giving up, he lays on his back and stares at the white ceiling. A sigh escapes his lips, and his mind starts to think about Donghae. He wonders what is the other doing right now, if he’d fallen asleep, if he’s fine or not. Soon he realizes he’s crying, crying because he misses Donghae. He misses the other’s company, he misses the touches and kisses the other would offer. He misses everything.

--

The next day, Hyukjae swears he hates himself for crying too hard last night because he’s sick. So sick that his head is about to explode, he’s all sweating and the world around him is spinning. But he doesn’t care, he continues to sleep, and he knows his mom will check up on him and call the school, telling them why isn’t he attending.

--

That night, when Hyukjae wakes up, Donghae is right beside him; his hands around the other’s body and the younger looking at him. Has he been staring at me while I’m asleep? Hyukjae thinks. Donghae looks so calm and flashes the smile that Hyukjae has been missing. That smile. And Hyukjae thinks if he’s dreaming.

“You’re awake?” He heard Donghae said, then he realizes he’s not dreaming. It’s really Donghae.

“W-why are you here?”

Donghae stirs and moves closer; resting his head on the older’s chest. “I’m worried,” He manages to whisper, but since everything around them is so quiet, it’s loud enough for Hyukjae to hear him.

“And I miss you.”  For the first time in his entire life, Hyukjae’s heart skips a bit.

I miss you too, is what Hyukjae tries to say, but he keeps it to himself and decides to stay silent.

“Sungmin Hyung told me that you’re sick when I asked him, why weren’t you at school today.” There, Hyukjae wonders if Donghae really cares about him or it’s just him. “I… I felt bad leaving you like that the other day. I-i’m sorry.”

Hyukjae feels bad and guilt all over him. Why is Donghae apologizing? It’s his fault, not Donghae’s. Hyukjae moves his hand away from Donghae’s waist and holds the younger’s chin, so that they’re both looking into each other’s eyes. That’s when he realizes something dark under Donghae’s eyes. Has he been crying too? He asks himself.

“Look, Hae. It’s not your fault, it’s mine. I’m the one who should be sorry. I shouldn’t have asked you such questions and I shouldn’t stop you from-”

He feels a sudden warmth against his own lips, Donghae is kissing him.

The kiss lasts for a moment - or maybe a lifetime for Hyukjae, before Donghae pulls back, blushing. Hyukjae doesn’t know what had just happened and he’s still surprised.

“What was that for, Hae?” is what he manages to say once their eyes meet.

“Uhm, for a make up?” Donghae says, still blushing. God, Hyukjae just wanted to keep this cute little creature with him forever.

“Don’t you think you’ll catch a cold too?” Hyukjae teases.

“I don’t mind, because I can stay with you.”

“Cheesy.” Hyukjae lets out a hearty laugh, causing Donghae to laugh as well.

 “Donghae?”

“Hm?”

“Please keep this in mind because I won’t say it again,” Hyukjae’s nervous, and he knows Donghae’s waiting for him to continue as he says, “I love you.”

Donghae flinches but he smiles anyway, “I love you too.” They kiss again for the second time and it’s different because Hyukjae’s responding to the kiss.

Right at that moment Hyukjae knows, everything’s back to normal again. Well, just a little change that, they both now know what they feel towards each other. They love each other, they need each other and that’s all that matters right now.
